At FCVERH we offer medical based acupuncture for animals. With multiple doctors on staff qualified to perform this treatment modality, animal acupuncture is available to both our rehabilitation and emergency patients. It is a safe and effective method for treating pain and providing comfort to your loved ones while they heal.

Medical acupuncture for animals is the use of acupuncture treatments to help patients recover from injury or illness, and is performed using the application of slim, sterile needles to specific points, leading to improved comfort and function in specific muscles, organs and nerves.

Many of our rehabilitation appointments combine the use of physical medicine modalities, including acupuncture, to improve comfort and help facilitate a quicker return to function.

Animal acupuncture can be used for:

  • Muscular spasms or pain
  • Soft tissue injuries
  • Neck or back pain
  • Arthritis
  • Weakness
  • Incontinence
  • Post-operative recovery
  • Orthopedic injuries such as hip dysplasia, ACL tears, shoulder instability and elbow dysplasia
  • Nausea or inappetence
  • Cancer related issues
  • Eye problems such as glaucoma and dry eye
  • Auto-immune disease
  • Kidney disease

Acupuncture is remarkably well tolerated by animals, and even sensitive dogs and cats learn quickly that it is a positive, feel good experience. If you have questions regarding medical acupuncture for animals, please don’t hesitate to give use a call.
